Adam Tooze Named one of Foreign Policy's Top 100 Global Thinkers for 2019

January 18, 2019

We are pleased to announce that professor Adam Tooze, Director of the European Institute & Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Professor of History, was named one of Foreign Policy's top 100 Global thinkers.  We congratulate him for this accomplishment, and are proud to have him at Columbia University.

The section in Foreign Policy on Tooze reads, "Adam Tooze wants you to know that the markets are not immune to the rise of populism and other political developments. In his 2018 book, Crashed: How a Decade of Financial Crises Changed the World, Tooze argues that the global economy is shaped by geopolitics, connecting banking and debt crises to annexations, referendums, and elections. 'What we face is not repetition but mutation and metastasis,' he writes of the global recession."
