European Institute Director and Columbia University Professor of History, Adam Tooze, was recently featured in the London Review of Books for his assessment and critique of Wolfgang Streeck’s book, How Will Capitalism End?. He also was published in Prospect Magazine for producing an article on the birth of the American Century.
In his piece for Prospect, Tooze writes about the wistfulness that historians may feel for the 20th century. He discusses the present challenge of assessing the global reaction to the trend of “power…unmitigated by pretensions to moral leadership, a power that makes no apology for its own self-interest and that promises to treat others in the same spirit.”
