Struggling for the World of Tomorrow: The Climate Crisis and Democracy

A conversation between Luisa Neubauer (Fridays for Future), Ed Miliband (UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero), and Adam Tooze (European Institute and Committee on Global Thought, Columbia University)

Luisa Neubauer is one of the leading European climate activists of her generation. From 2018, the school strikes orchestrated by Fridays for Future movement energized the European climate policy debate. Six years on, in conversation with Adam Tooze, Luisa Neubauer will discuss the legacies of the movement and its implications for our thinking about climate policy and democracy. Reflecting on her latest book, "Climate Atlas: 80 maps for the world of tomorrow” (Der Klimaatlas: 80 Karten fuer die Welt von Morgen), Neubauer will explore ways to bridge the gap between local struggles and the global crisis.

This event is cosponsored by the Committee on Global Thought at Columbia Global, Columbia Climate School, the Institute of Global Politics, and the European Institute

Event open to Columbia University identity card (CUID) holders only. Please register before September 25.
